A green future?

A matter-of-fact look at the potential of renewable energies

Wednesday, January 26, 6.15 pm

Herderbau, Tennenbacher Str. 4, Room 100

A number of recent studies have concluded that Germany (and Europe) could produce 100 per cent of its electricity from renewable energies as soon as 2050. But how realistic is this goal if you look at the economic costs and the practical aspects implied in a complete overhaul of our energy supply?

Dieter Seifried, author of the recently published book “Renewable Energy – The Facts”, will analyze the potential of renewable energies in Germany and the world and answer these controversial questions with a special look at the situation in the city of Freiburg.

Dieter Seifried studied energy technology and power plant technology along with macroeconomics. From 1983 to 1999, he worked in the energy and transport division of the Institute for Applied Ecology in Freiburg and since 1999, he has been director of Ö-quadrat, an independent consulting firm.
